A Rochester, New Hampshire, man died after his SUV struck a toll plaza in Dover early Monday morning and burst into flames, police said.

Justyn Tyndaal, 39, was traveling north on Route 16 around 2:10 a.m. when he lost control of his 2018 Chevrolet Equinox and hit a concrete barrier while he was driving through an E-ZPass lane at the plaza, New Hampshire State Police said in a statement.

The vehicle “came to final rest perpendicular in the travel lane of the toll plaza” where it burst into flames, authorities said.

Tyndaal was pulled from the SUV and brought to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

Police were still investigating what caused Tyndaal to lose control of the vehicle later Monday morning.

Three northbound travel lanes at the toll plaza were closed for about two hours as troopers carried out an investigation.
