Pittsfield man arrested in decades-old rape cases
GRETNA, La. (AP) — Authorities say a Massachusetts man has been arrested and extradited to Louisiana to face accusations that he repeatedly raped a young girl and boy in the 1970s.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Jason Rivarde tells NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune that 73-year-old Jason Vendrick Franklin Sr. of Pittsfield was booked with two counts of aggravated rape.
Rivarde says Franklin is accused of raping the victims sometime between 1973 and 1977 when they were between the ages of 2 and 7. Authorities say the rapes happened in Waggaman and Bridge City.
It’s unclear if Franklin has a lawyer who could comment.
