A 45-year-old New Hampshire woman told police that her husband shot her early Tuesday morning and then shot and killed himself, according to a statement from Rochester police. She sustained serious injuries in what police are calling “an apparent act of domestic violence.”

The department was alerted to the incident around 6:39 a.m. when they received a 911 call from the woman.

“The caller indicated that she had been shot by her husband and that her husband had shot and killed himself,” according to the statement.

Officers and first responders then arrived at the scene, located on Sunset Drive in Rochester. The woman was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, police said. The alleged shooter, a 47-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
