Her car struck another vehicle before it entered the median, police say.

An Avon woman was killed Sunday evening when her car hit another vehicle and veered off  I-95 in Norwood, according to police.

The 31-year-old woman was traveling southbound on the highway around 5:40 p.m. when her 2006 Ford Fusion exited the left lane and struck a 2018 Toyota Corolla in the middle lane, a preliminary investigation by Massachusetts State Police indicated.

Her car then entered the median and stopped against a tree about a half mile north of Exit 11A, authorities said in a statement.

The woman, who has not been identified, was brought to Norwood Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to police. The driver of the Toyota, a 37-year-old Sharon man who was alone in his car, was not injured, officials said.
