A man was seriously injured after becoming stuck underneath a Red Line train in South Boston Tuesday afternoon, according to the Boston Fire Department.

Brian Alkins, a department spokeswoman, said firefighters responded to the scene at the MBTA’s Broadway Station around 2:30 p.m.

Power had to be cut as crews worked to remove the man from underneath the train, Alkins said, and trains were delayed as a result. After first responders got him out from underneath the train, the man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
