OLD LYME, Conn. (AP) — Authorities say two men fell through the ice while skating on a Connecticut lake, leaving one dead and the other hospitalized.

Connecticut State Police say the men were ice skating on Roger’s Lake in Old Lyme on Saturday when they both fell through the ice.

Officials responded and found one of the men clinging to the edge of the broken ice. Authorities say the other man hadn’t resurfaced.

First responders were able to bring 61-year-old Lawrence Buhl of North Haven to the shore using ropes and a canoe.
