Fitchburg man arrested after trying to sell gun, drugs to undercover trooper

A Fitchburg man who unwittingly got into an unmarked State Police cruiser and drove with an undercover trooper to a home to sell him a gun was arrested Thursday on illegal gun and drug charges, officials said.

The trooper was approached by two men while conducting surveillance around Main Street and Prichard Street who offered to sell him marijuana, Massachusetts State Police said in a statement Friday evening.

After the sale was completed, one of the two men, later identified as Leon Lorime, 27, of Fitchburg, asked if the trooper was interested in buying a gun. They agreed on a price and set a location to meet at 30 minutes later for the sale, the statement said.
