A Sandwich woman narrowly avoided serious injury, police say, when a turkey crashed through her windshield while she was driving on Route 6A Monday morning.
The 43-year-old woman sustained minor injuries from broken glass after her 2007 Kia Sportage struck a turkey crossing the road around 8:30 a.m., Sandwich police said on Facebook. The bird passed between the two front seats and “continued through the passenger compartment, striking the rear tailgate of the vehicle.”
“The turkey did not survive and the vehicle had to be towed from the scene,” police said.
Solar glare may have contributed to the accident.
