A man was shot in Roxbury Tuesday afternoon

The man suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

A man was shot near 60 Annunciation Road in Roxbury Tuesday afternoon, according to Boston police.

He was taken to an area hospital with a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound after officers arrived on scene around 3:30 p.m., police said in a statement.

Later Tuesday, around 9:10 p.m., officers pulled over a vehicle on Washington Street in Dorchester matching the description of a vehicle seen fleeing the area after the shooting.

During a search, officers recovered a partially loaded 9mm Ruger SR9 handgun with an obliterated serial number under the padding of an unoccupied children’s car seat, according to police. Officers then took the driver — Antonio Williams, 20, of Roxbury — and passenger — Rafael Pena, 24, of Boston — into custody. Both men face charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, among other gun-related charges, police said. They were expected to appear in Dorchester District Court.


The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, according to police.
