Three Spencer police officers were hospitalized Thursday after coming into contact with a powder that was later identified as methamphetamine hydrochloride, authorities said.
Police said two of the officers became light-headed and dizzy after they were exposed during a traffic stop to a white powdery substance in a suspect’s vehicle. The third officer was taken to the hospital as a precaution, and a level 1 hazmat situation was declared, they said.
“This incident is still under investigation and we anticipate motor vehicle and drug charges to follow,” police said.
The officers were released from the hospital late Thursday, according to police.
