2 men dead after fatal late-night Boston shooting

BOSTON (AP) — Boston Police are investigating the shooting deaths of two men in the city’s Mattapan neighborhood.

Officers were called to Violet Street, a residential area, shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday night for a report of a person shoot. Police say two male victims, approximately in their late 40s, were found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Both were transported to local area hospitals, where they were pronounced dead.

Police said Sunday they’re actively investigating the incident and asked anyone with information to contact homicide detectives.

The two deaths come one week after an innocent bystander, 74-year-old Mattapan grandmother and retired hospital worker Eleanor Maloney, was shot killed in a triple shooting near her home. Two men found at the scene with gunshot sounds were expected to survive.
