State Police: Trooper shot man in confrontation in Brockton

BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts State Police say a trooper was involved in a shooting in Brockton.

State Police Spokesman Dave Procopio says preliminary information suggests the trooper fired his gun around 9 a.m. Saturday during a confrontation with a male suspect.

The man was hit in the lower body and taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

Procopio says the trooper is also being evaluated.

State Police are investigating.

Procopio did not release additional details about the incident, saying the facts and circumstances are the subject of an active investigation at this time.
