2 Weymouth men killed in Quincy crash

Their vehicle struck the bridge abutment under the Neponset River footbridge on Thursday morning.

Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash in Quincy that left two men dead on Thursday morning.

State police said troopers responded to the scene on Hancock Street around 10:35 a.m. The initial investigation indicates the driver, a 74-year-old man from Weymouth, was traveling on Hancock Street when, for causes still being determined, the vehicle departed off the right side of the roadway and over the sidewalk, striking the bridge abutment under the Neponset River footbridge.

Both the driver and his passenger, a 50-year-old man also from Weymouth, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The names of the men have not been released by authorities.
