SWANTON, Vt. (AP) — Police in Vermont have accused a 16-year-old boy of leading them on a car chase at speeds exceeding 115 miles per hour before crashing at an intersection.
Police said the boy and a girl ran from the crash in Swanton on Monday morning. Police caught up with them and cited the boy on numerous charges, including grossly negligent operation of a motor vehicle; excessive speed; eluding an officer and giving false information to an officer; operating without the owner’s consent; and perjury. Police also said the boy didn’t have a driver’s license, only a learner’s permit.
Police said they saw the car traveling north on Interstate 89 at a high rate of speed and tried to stop it.
