Death of 15-month-old foster child in Lawrence under investigation

The girl was brought to Lawrence General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Officials are investigating after a 15-month-old girl in foster care died at Lawrence General Hospital on Sunday morning, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

The child’s foster father called Lawrence emergency personnel around 8:55 a.m. that morning to report that the girl was “unresponsive.” She was then taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, an email from the district attorney’s office said.

“She showed no obvious signs of trauma,” according to the authorities.

An investigation is ongoing; the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is determining how the girl died, the district attorney’s office said.
