Police said detectives are working to determine the woman’s identity, the circumstances of her death, as well as how and when she ended up in the river.

“The victim is a  black female, aged approximately 18 to 25 years old, approximate 5′ 5″ in height and weighing approximately 120 [pounds],” police said. “The body was clothed.”

An autopsy was expected to occur on Thursday, police said.
