Authorities are still trying to identify the young woman whose body was pulled from the Charles River on Wednesday morning.

As part of the ongoing investigation, state police released an image of a tattoo on the woman’s left rear hip on Thursday and urged anyone with information to contact them. Police said the tattoo may be the astrological symbol for the horoscope sign Virgo.

“The victim is a black female, aged approximately 18 to 25 years old, approximate 5′ 5″ in height and weighing approximately 120 [pounds],” police said. “The body was clothed.”

The woman’s body was recovered from the river around 7:25 a.m. on Wednesday after a kayaker observed it floating between the Longfellow and Massachusetts Avenue bridges. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances of the woman’s death and how and when she ended up in the river.

“Anyone who knows of a missing person who matches that general description or has a tattoo like that, or anyone who has any other information possibly related to the victim, is urged to call the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit at 617-727-8817,” police said.
