Natick woman dies after car veers off I-95 in Boxford, crashes in woods

A 65-year-old Natick woman is dead after her car ran off Interstate 95 in Boxford on Thursday afternoon and crashed in the woods, Massachusetts State Police said.

The woman died in a single-car crash around 1:20 p.m. on Interstate 95 northbound near Exit 52, said David Procopio, a State Police spokesman.

The car “went off the roadway for reasons that are still under investigation and went fairly deep into the woods on the side of the roadway,’’ Procopio said.

The victim was driving a 2017 Honda CR-V when she crashed into an embankment on the right side of the interstate, State Police said in a statement. The woman, whose name has not been released by police pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said. She was the only person in the car.

State Police are investigating the crash along with the chief medical examiner.

The right lane and the breakdown lane were closed on the northbound side of the highway after the crash, State Police said. Boxford fire, police, and emergency medical services assisted State Police at the scene along with the Department of Transportation.
