A water main break caused a large hole to open up in Tewksbury early Wednesday, according to police.

The Tewksbury Police Department tweeted a photo of the immense hole, captioned with the emojis “😳⛲️.”

A dispatcher told the Boston Globe the hole was probably about 10 to 15 feet across.

The break happened at the intersection of Newton Avenue and Main Street and affected water service to residents of Newton Avenue, police said. The incident was initially tweeted about at 5 a.m.
