Man struck, killed by commuter rail train in Chelsea Tuesday night

Foul play isn't suspected.

A man thought to be in his 50s was hit and killed by a Rockport Line inbound commuter rail train in Chelsea late Tuesday night, according to MBTA Transit Police.

Police were called to the area near Everett Avenue and Maple Street around 11:30 p.m. The man, who has not been publicly identified, was pronounced dead, police said.

Authorities say the man was trespassing on the tracks when he was struck. They don’t suspect foul play; the investigation continues.
