A Cambridge police officer suffered a gunshot wound to their leg on Thursday when their gun “accidentally discharged,” according to police.

Police said the shooting occurred around 12:18 p.m. outside the department’s station at 125 6th St.

“They are currently being treated at this time for a leg injury,” police said.

Police spokesman Jeremy Warnick told Boston.com the officer was exiting their personal vehicle on Rodgers Street, outside the station, when the firearm discharged one shot. The officer is in good condition at a hospital, he said.

An internal investigation is being conducted,” Warnick said.
