New Hampshire boy, 5, found dead in Dover home

The boy was reportedly found unresponsive Saturday morning.

A 5-year-old boy was found dead in a Dover, New Hampshire, home Saturday morning.

The boy, who was not identified, was initially found unresponsive by his parents, WBZ-TV reports.

Paramedics declared him dead when they arrived at the Summer Street residence after a family member called 911, according to the news station. His parents said nothing initially seemed unusual that morning when they checked on him.

“I expect that the medical examiner will not only complete an autopsy but I believe that they will have numerous tests that they’ll need to do and it may take some time to get answers back,” Dover Police Lt. Brant Dolleman told WBZ-TV.

A neighbor who said he was devastated to hear the news told WBZ-TV the couple are “high-quality people.”

“It’s tough,” Doug Dede said. “They are a wonderful couple, they really are.”

Dolleman, who described the matter as a “tremendous tragedy,” said the death remains under investigation. An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday, WBZ-TV reports.

“We are exploring all possibilities,” Dolleman said. “No one has been charged with any crime and we don’t anticipate any charges coming forward any time soon.”
