Norton Middle School cancels concert after staff finds bullets stored in lockers

Officials did not find any weapons in the school, only ammunition.

A concert at Norton Middle School was canceled Wednesday night after bullets were found stored in a student’s locker, according to police.

A teacher overheard students discussing ammunition being brought to school earlier Wednesday, police said in a release. One student reportedly said they brought five bullets to the school multiple days ago to trade with another student for electronics.

Staff searched the belongings of the students involved but found no ammo, police said.

After dismissal, staff searched lockers and found three rounds of .243 rifle ammunition.

After the bullets were found, police and K9 units searched the school and buses. No other ammunition or weapons were found in the school or any buses, according to a release.

The school canceled a concert planned for 7 p.m. as a precautionary measure as law enforcement continued the search, police said.

Parents were notified of the incident.

No charges have been filed, and the incident is under investigation.
