2 shot, 1 fatally in incidents at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and in Brookline
Boston police were called around 9:20 a.m.

A Brigham and Women’s Hospital employee was shot near the hospital Friday morning, and police are investigating whether a second shooting on Route 9 in Brookline is related.
The Norfolk District Attorney’s office confirmed that there was a “police-involved fatal shooting” near Route 9 and Hammond Street Friday morning.
Authorities note that they’re investigating this incident “as possibly connected to earlier incidents in Suffolk County, leading to pursuit down Route 9 to that location.”
Police were called to 60 Fenwood Road around 9:20 a.m. for a report of shots fired, according to a spokesperson for the department. One person, a member of the hospital’s valet team, was found shot. He is in stable condition, the hospital said.
During this morning’s active shooter incident, a member of our Valet team was shot. Our Emergency Department team responded immediately, and our colleague is currently in stable condition. There is no further threat to our campus.

The hospital has since been given the “all clear.”

State police said this morning there was an “active law enforcement incident” near the Brookline/Newton Line in the area of Hammond Street and Route 9.
“There is no current threat to the public,” state police said on Twitter. “There are road closures. Please avoid area. More info will come as it’s available.”

Brookline police issued a traffic advisory, noting that Boylston Street/Route 9 was shut down between Chestnut Hill Avenue and Hammond Street.
