Watch: Malden police release short film introducing their newest junior officer

"Reporting For Duty - Officer Arthur" follows a passionate 5-year-old boy who joins law enforcement for a day.

The new short film “Reporting For Duty – Officer Arthur,” by Malden Police Chief Kevin Molis, made its debut on Friday.

Nearly five minutes long, the “action packed” video follows a 5-year-old boy named Arthur as he partners with Officer Charles “Chuck” Washington and joins the Malden police force for a day.

“Chief Molis is proud to introduce you to our newest JR officer,” the department wrote on Twitter.

After realizing Arthur hoped for a future career in law enforcement, police said, his family reached out to Molis to make some arrangements.

“Officer Arthur loves his uniform and has been wearing it since Halloween when he discovered his passion for police work,” the film preview reads. “We had a great time showing Arthur around and look forward to seeing him amongst our ranks.”

In the opening scene, Molis tells the camera he’s about to go meet their newest honorary recruit who had hoped to come to the station and get a feel for daily operations.

As he heads out to the lobby, he’s greeted by a bashful Arthur who hands him a drawing made for the station, and the boy spends the rest of the short with Washington, learning the ropes.

Now enough spoilers, watch it below:
