The driver who allegedly struck three bicyclists in Ipswich, killing one of them, has been cited on multiple charges, including motor vehicle homicide and texting while driving, and will be summonsed to court for a hearing in May.

Ryane Linehan, 43, of Ipswich, will head to court on May 18, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. There, a clerk magistrate will decide whether or not to issue a criminal complaint on the charges. If probable cause is determined, Linehan could face charges of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation; composing, sending, reading an electronic message; and a marked lanes violation.

Back on March 26, Linehan was allegedly driving a Kia Soul on Topsfield Road when she struck George Norris, 58, along with his wife and son; the three family members were riding bicycles. Norris was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital where he died of his injuries the following morning, the district attorney’s office said.

Ipswich police, state police, and the district attorney’s office conducted the investigation, according to officials.
