Watch: 5-alarm fire roars through vacant Norton mill

Fire officials said it took firefighters from multiple surrounding cities and towns to put out the flames.

A 5-alarm fire tore through a vacant mill in Norton Wednesday evening, drawing firefighters from multiple surrounding cities and towns to battle the blaze, fire officials said. 

The structure fire erupted at 138 Barrows St. and a fifth alarm was struck just after 6 p.m., the Norton Fire Department wrote in a Facebook post.

Norton police tweeted that the road was closed, and asked locals to avoid the area. 

No injuries have been reported and much of the fire wasn’t knocked down until about 8:30 p.m., The Sun Chronicle reported, adding that firefighters stayed on the scene past midnight.
