Watch: Bear startles man napping by pool in Greenfield

A Massachusetts man who was taking a nap near his pool was startled awake by an unusual alarm clock — a bear.

Dawn Bete shared a video of the moment, which was captured on the family’s Ring camera, to Facebook on Sunday. 

“Matt was a little startled yesterday while taking a rest by the pool,” she wrote, adding a bear emoji. 

Bete told CBS Boston her husband was sleeping by their Greenfield pool on Saturday when the bear wandered into the area through an open gate. 

In the video, the bear can be seen ambling up to her husband’s foot and giving it a nudge with its paw, scampering off when he started awake.

“He wasn’t sure how he should react but knew he couldn’t get up that fast,” Bete wrote of her husband’s experience on Facebook. “But at least he had another chair and table between them if needed. Luckily it went running out soon after the encounter.”
