1 dead, 2 injured in South Deerfield crash

The driver, Cole Baranoski, 18, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the hospital.

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A young man from South Deerfield has died in a crash that also injured two of his passengers.

The crash happened just before 5 a.m. Friday in South Deerfield, authorities said Saturday. The driver, Cole Baranoski, 18, was thrown from the vehicle. He died at the hospital.

Two passengers were hurt, one of whom remains hospitalized.

The crash is under investigation by the Deerfield Police Department, state police and the Northwester District Attorney’s office.
