Gunfire erupted on a portion of Route 138 in Canton on Sunday after two cars nearly collided and one spun into a snowbank, after which someone emerged from that vehicle firing a handgun — with the entire incident caught on video by a motorist following behind the pair.
In the 22-second clip, two vehicles, one that appears black and one gray, pass the vehicle with the cameraman inside, and appear to be bumper to bumper. Then, the squealing of tires can be heard as the gray vehicle spins into a snowbank.
The black vehicle spins a u-turn. As it comes back toward the gray vehicle, and toward the other motorist shooting the video, someone can be seen running into the street, and pops of gunfire erupt.
“We don’t believe it was road rage,” Canton Police Chief Ken Berkowitz told WCVB. “The parties knew each other and it was intended. But it’s equally as brazen and disturbing — yeah, they might have known each other and had a feud or whatever and everyone else around them doesn’t matter.”
The department is continuing to investigate, and is close to making arrests, the news station reported. Attempted murder charges could come out of it.
Both vehicles, which were rented, were found in two different spots in Canton, according to NBC10 Boston.
