Police: Baby found abandoned in Dorchester; mother located
Authorities were called to 2262 Dorchester Ave. around 1:14 p.m. Friday.
A baby was found abandoned in Dorchester on Friday afternoon, according to Boston police.
Around 1:14 p.m., authorities were called to 2262 Dorchester Ave. for a report of an abandoned baby, Officer Kim Tavares, a spokesperson for the department, told Boston.com.
The baby was taken to a nearby hospital and was reportedly OK, Tavares said. The baby’s mother has been found, she noted. Tavares couldn’t say if the mother will be facing charges.
Tavares also could not confirm where the baby was found, but multiple sources report that the baby was found in a trash can.

“I was walking by the trash can, and I heard some crying coming out of the trash can,” witness Silvana Sanchez told reporters on scene.
She flagged down an EMT who was about to enter a nearby building.
“He grabbed a grocery bag out of the trash can, grabbed it, the two other EMTs came over [and] cut the bag open, and there was a newborn baby found inside of it,” Sanchez said.
