Tires flew off a truck in Lancaster and struck a pickup, injuring passenger

“I saw the two wheels come to me."

Tires reportedly flew off a tractor-trailer truck and struck a pickup truck on Route 2 in Lancaster Tuesday afternoon, trapping a 23-year-old man inside.

Joe Jeon, the man’s father, told 7 News that he and his son, Alex, were traveling in the opposite direction of the truck when he saw the tires flying toward him.

“I saw the two wheels come to me,” Jeon said, according to the news station. “So, I can’t turn the wheel, I held it.”

When the tires struck the pickup, it began to spin. The pickup went off the road and hit a tree. Jeon said one of his son’s legs was broken and he was stuck under the dashboard.

Firefighters were able to free him. He is scheduled for surgery Wednesday, 7 News reported.

The tractor trailer driver stopped following the crash; he may be cited, according to the news station.
