BOSTON (AP) — One person is dead following a fire early Monday in an apartment house in the Brighton neighborhood, Boston firefighters say.
A woman who was rescued from the building was taken to the hospital along with two firefighters, said Boston Fire Commissioner John Dempsey.
“She was on the roof, she had come out the window on the third floor and needed to be rescued right away,” he said.
There is no word on the severity of the injuries.
The three-alarm fire on Perthshire Road was reported about 12:30 a.m. Monday. When firefighters arrived there were flames coming from the roof of the house.
The man who died was found on the third floor of the building. His name has not been released.
The cause of the fire, which displaced nine people, is under investigation.
