A father-daughter marathon moment? What more could you want!
On Monday, popular WBZ sports reporter Steve Burton got to give his daughter, Kayla Burton, her first Boston Marathon medal after she completed the race. Even more special, he awarded it live on air.
“Are you glad you’re done?” Burton asked his daughter.
“Yeah, Dad, I’m glad I’m done,” Kayla retorted.

Burton teased his daughter, saying she was “an hour late,” before placing the medal over her head. It was actually her first marathon, period.
“It was incredible,” Kayla told Burton and anchor Paula Ebben. “Start to finish, these guys are just cheering you on. I had my music going — of course my phone dies the last six miles, but it was perfect. It was almost beautiful, you really got to just hear the people; they’re shouting your name, and it’s just like, whoa.”
Kayla played basketball for Lehigh and is a former sports news anchor herself. She placed 12,245 overall with a time of 04:29:33.
