Roslindale couple delivers baby at home mid-nor’easter

The storm was a little *extra* exciting for this Roslindale family.

A Roslindale family welcomed a new member of the family this week, but perhaps not the way they’d planned to.

While a nor’easter knocked out power to thousands, Chopaka Stobbart gave birth to baby Lukas in a bathtub around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, WCVB reported. Her husband, David, helped deliver the baby, and was on the phone with 911 the whole time.

According to WCVB, the couple and newborn eventually got to Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and everyone is healthy.

“We thought it was a wild night for everyone listening to the wind,” WCVB anchor Antoinette Antonio joked Thursday morning.

Meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon noted that there is a correlation: “when the pressure’s dropping, it can induce things.” She’s right- – a 2007 study found that spontaneous delivery is related to barometric pressure — but that is certainly not confirmed in this case.
