Firefighters found the body of the victim after they put out the blaze, according to a statement from the office of the state fire marshal.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — One person is dead following a fire in an apartment building in Manchester.

Firefighters found the body of the victim after they put out the blaze, which erupted Saturday evening just east of downtown Manchester, according to a statement from the office of the state fire marshal.

A second person was taken to the hospital for treatment, as was a firefighter who was injured during the response.

Authorities have yet to identify the victim. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

The state fire marshal’s office said it will work with local fire and police departments to determine the cause of the blaze.
