Saugus Barnes & Noble to shut its doors

"We have truly enjoyed serving our customers in Saugus for the past 25 years and would have loved to have continued for many more."

Barnes & Noble

The Barnes & Noble on Route 1 in Saugus will close its doors permanently next month.

The store announced the news in a recent Facebook post. According to the message, the store’s landlord is redeveloping the property and opted not to renew the store’s lease.

“We have truly enjoyed serving our customers in Saugus for the past 25 years and would have loved to have continued for many more,” the Saugus Barnes & Noble team wrote in the post.

The store’s last day will be Jan. 23, 2022, but Barnes & Noble is looking for another store in the area.

Those who have suggestions for a new location should email [email protected] and put “Saugus” in the subject line.

“Our Saugus booksellers are all fantastic. We thank them for the work they have done and hope to welcome them back when we secure a new location,” according to the message.

Barnes & Noble has more than 600 stores in every state, and is opening newly designed locations in communities across the country.

“We expect this one will be back in the area before long,” according to the post.
