Student dies from apparent suicide at Northeastern library

The school is making counseling and mental health services available to everyone in the university community who needs support.

A Northeastern University student died Wednesday from an apparent suicide in Snell Library, according to The Huntington News, the school’s independent newspaper.

Around 11:30 a.m. the student was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead, Northeastern spokesperson Shannon Nargi told the paper.

 “Because this tragic incident is the subject of an ongoing investigation, the university will have no further comment at this time,” she told the paper via email.

The Northeastern University Police Department tweeted about an “ongoing medical emergency” at Snell Library. Boston Fire and EMS asked that people avoid the area until further notice.

Shortly after 3 p.m., the department tweeted “all clear.”

According to The Huntington News, the school is making counseling and mental health services available to everyone in the university community who needs support.
