The Rockland Police Department issued a statement on social media Wednesday afternoon, warning residents to check their vehicle tires for loose lug nuts.
The warning comes after several people reported loosened lug nuts to the police, according to the tweet from Rockland police.
“Please check your vehicle tires before heading out,” police said.
Police are unsure whether this is part of a TikTok trend or challenge, according to NBC Boston. The activity in Rockland follows September incidents in Chicopee, where the social media-inspired “Lug Nut challenge” resulted in residents finding that lug nuts on their cars had been loosened.
Police are urging the public to report any suspicious activity to the police department at 781-878-1212.
