Dedham parking meters cause complaints, confusion

New parking meters in downtown Dedham have caused problems for drivers, according to WBZ NewsRadio.

According to reporter Chris Fama, the devices are equipped with cameras that allow for 10 minutes of free parking.

However, he reported, parkers have been unknowingly tagged for tickets. Others told him the meters were confusing

According to Patch.com, town officials discussed the problem at the recent select board meeting.

Town Manager Leon Goodwin told the board that the town was experiencing “growing pains” with the new meters, according to the website.

Board members Kevin Coughlin and Jim MacDonald said they had received numerous complaints from constituents about fines and other issues, according to Patch.com.

“Our growing pains are costing people money,” Coughlin said, according to the website.

According to Fama, Dedham police welcome feedback and call the transition a work in progress.
