MBTA, Amtrak announce modified schedules due to storm

Some Amtrak trains are cancelled while various MBTA services are running on modified schedules.

With the winter storm on the way, local and regional transit agencies are altering or canceling service for Saturday and Sunday.

For the MBTA on Saturday:

  • Buses, including the Silver Line, the Red, Orange, and Blue lines plus the RIDE are all running normal service
  • For the Green Line, shuttles are replacing the D branch between Kenmore and Riverside
  • Shuttles are replacing the Mattapan Trolley
  • The Commuter Rail is running on a normal weekend schedule, minus Fitchburg which has a special schedule

For Amtrak on Saturday:

  • Acela Service between Washington, D.C., and New York and Boston is canceled
  • All Northeast Regional and Vermonter service between Boston and New York is canceled
  • Springfield shuttle service between New Haven, Connecticut, and Greenfield is canceled
  • Downeaster service between Boston and Brunswick, Maine, is canceled

For Amtrak on Sunday:

  • Northeast Regional trains 150 and 160 between Boston and New York are canceled
  • Downeaster train 690 between Brunswick, Maine, and Boston is canceled
  • Northeast Regional train 195 between Boston and Richmond, Virginia, will originate in New York
  • Northeast Regional train 99 between Boston and Newport News, Virginia, will originate in New York
