The death of George Floyd, who was killed earlier this week in Minneapolis after police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck during arrest, has sparked protests around the country. One 15-year-old in Oregon, Kellen S., felt that that she had to get involved and advocate for justice.
Kellen set up a Change.org petition, Justice For George Floyd. Now, that petition has over 6 million signatures, making it the most-signed petition in Change.org’s history, the organization confirmed in a press release.
On the latest update of the petition, Kellen wrote, “One of the four men responsible for this horrific murder is in custody. Our message is loud and clear: we will not stop until there is justice for George. District Attorney Mike Freeman needs to hear from us now to make sure the other three involved officers are held accountable. 5 million voices can’t be silenced and I want to share all your stories with him.”
As of publication, the Change.org petition has 6,808,392 signatures and counting.
