Small Plane Crashes Through Colorado Home

The photo is jarring. A small airplane smoldering inside a Colorado home. It’s hard to believe, but no one was hurt, according to media reports.

No one was at the Denver suburb home, and the pilot was able to parachute to safety, according to NBC.

“A Piper PA-25 Pawnee crashed into a residence after experiencing trouble while towing a banner over Northglenn, Colorado,’’ the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement. “The pilot escaped from the aircraft and parachuted safely to the ground before the aircraft went down.’’

Officials are investigating the cause.

One witness told the local ABC affiliate that the plane appeared to be struggling to keep the banner advertisement that was attached to its tail in the air.

"It was carrying a large GEICO banner that was probably about 200 feet off the ground," Shanna Rudd told ABC. "The airplane had its nose up as it went down."
