Two police officers and a third victim were killed by a pair of gunmen in Las Vegas Sunday, reportedly telling bystanders the attack was part of a “revolution’’ and that they sought a gun battle with authorities.

The attackers, a man and a woman who have not been identified, shot and killed two police officers at a Cici’s Pizza restaurant just after 11:20 a.m., then crossed the street to a Wal-Mart where they shot and killed a third victim before the female suspect shot the male suspect and killed herself, the Associated Press reported. The whole attack took place in just minutes.

Police officials announced that both officers, Alyn Beck, 41, and Igor Soldo, 31, were pronounced dead at University Medical Center. The identity of the third victim has not been released.

Authorities say the investigation will take some time since the shooting took place at multiple locations and had so many witnesses.

From the AP:

Wal-Mart employees and shoppers were taken to a nearby women's clothing store to be interviewed by police. The restaurant and Wal-Mart remained closed as detectives processed evidence. McMahill said the investigation is "very complex" because it involves more than 1,000 witnesses.

Wal-Mart expressed its condolences in a statement and said the company was working with police on the investigation. Cici's Pizza said in a statement the company was deeply saddened by the shooting and would keep the location closed until further notice.

According to the AP report, Beck had been a police officer in Las Vegas since 2001 and was a husband and father of three. Soldo left behind his wife and infant child. He had been with the Las Vegas Police Department since 2006.
