Rep. Ayanna Pressley is not amused by White House adviser Kellyanne Conway reveling in her recent disagreement with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
After going on Fox News to call it “a huge catfight,” Conway took her mockery of Pelosi’s rift with the Massachusetts congresswoman and three other freshman Democrats over a border aid vote to social media Tuesday.
“Major Meow? Mashup with @SpeakerPelosi brushing back anti-humanitarian border aid fresh-women,” she tweeted, linking to a Politico story on the interview and tagging Pressley, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, and Michgan Rep. Rashida Tlaib.
The four lawmakers were the only Democrats that voted against the border aid bill last month, due to their objections to giving more money to border patrol agencies.
Conway’s tweet apparently got Pressley’s attention.
“Oh hi Distraction Becky,” the Boston Democrat tweeted in response Tuesday evening. “Remember that time your boss tore babies from their mothers’ arms and threw them in cages?”
Last summer, President Donald Trump’s administration came under widespread criticism for a hardline immigration policy that resulted in the separation of families crossing the southern border. At the time, Conway had tried to shift the blame onto Democrats, even though the party controlled no branch of the federal government.
“Yeah take a seat and keep my name out of your lying mouth,” Pressley added in her tweet.

As of Wednesday morning, the response had received more than 23,000 retweets and over 100,000 likes. According to Politico, “Distraction Becky” was trending on Twitter within hours of Pressley’s tweet (Becky is a slang stand-in term for a generic white woman).
“Trust me when I say you don’t want to get caught in @AyannaPressley’s righteous fire,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Tuesday evening, adding that Conway was “way over her head” defending the Republican administration.
Trust me when I say you don’t want to get caught in @AyannaPressley’s righteous fire?
Kellyanne is way over her head defending caging children & families in conditions that have killed almost 30 people on her admin’s watch.

As of last month, 24 migrants had died while in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement during the Trump administration, while at least four others died shortly after being released by ICE, according to NBC News.
“[Conway] may play games with people’s lives, but we don’t,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
Pressley and Ocasio-Cortez were among the group of House members that recently toured migrant detention centers in Texas to meet with those being held and inspect the concerning conditions at the facilities. During her Fox News appearance, Conway called their participation hypocritical.
“They preen around, going to these detention centers, going to these places and saying, ‘Oh my God, look what’s happening,’ and then they vote against $4.6 billion worth of aid including the Democratic package,” she said.
In a joint statement at the time, Pressley, Ocasio-Cortez, Omar, and Tlaib said they couldn’t “in good conscience” support additional funding for border patrol agencies that uphold “a fundamentally cruel and broken immigration system.”
“These radicalized, criminal agencies are destroying families and killing innocent children,” they said. “It is absolutely unconscionable to even consider giving one more dollar to support this President’s deportation force that openly commits human rights abuses and refuses to be held accountable to the American people.”
