Forecasts predict a beautiful day for running on Monday

Meteorologists expect a mostly cloudy morning, with the sun peeping out in the afternoon. Temperatures should reach the high 60s.

Predicting the weather in New England is, perhaps, slightly easier than picking winning Powerball numbers.

But not much.

Mercurial weather patterns aside, both the National Weather Service and several local meteorologists are expecting near-ideal running weather Monday for the 125th Boston Marathon.

While there is a slight chance of rain early in the day, if drops fall they won’t continue for long.

The day should be cloudy, starting in the lower 60s around the start of the race, and rising to the upper 60s as the afternoon approaches.

The sun could peek out in the morning, though will more likely make an appearance by the afternoon.

As meteorologist David Epstein points out, these are ideal conditions to avoid a sunburn.

Wind shouldn’t be a factor, according to most meteorologists — certainly not enough for any kind of a tailwind to spur runners on.
