A “full counter-terrorism investigation” is underway in London following an attack near British Parliament Wednesday, the city’s Metropolitan Police Service said.

Mark Rowley, the national lead for Counter Terrorism Policing and the Acting Deputy Commissioner, confirmed in a press conference that four people were killed when a man mowed down pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before stabbing a police officer outside the Houses of Parliament.

“Our strength as a city is our ability to stand together at such terrible times,” Rowley said.
