Junior Michael Thomas hit two free throws with 15 seconds to play to give the Rockets (4-1) their first lead as the tournament hosts topped the Sammies (2-4) in the Rocket Classic consolation game. Junior D.J. Scavone scored 20 points and Tyler Simmons 11 as Auburn won without top scorer Tyler Lamonda. Gordy Smythe led Sutton with 15 points.
