Holy Name 57, Doherty 36

Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Worcester

Sophomore guard Gigi Guenther's 12 points paced four double-figure scorers, while the Naps' ball-hawking defense and shot-blocking prowess were effective from start to finish, laying the groundwork for a 57-36 victory at Holy Name. Guenther, who did not start, scored 10 of her points in the first half. She knocked down two 3-pointers. Junior guard Aryauna Perez scored 11 points, while junior center Brianna Frias netted 10 points, all of them coming in the game-breaking second quarter. Junior guard Ama Biney added 10 points, all in the second half. "The kids did a good job, but a lot of credit has to go our seniors (Malissa Saad, Eva Katana, Megan Thornton)," Holy Name coach Barry Finneron said. "The stuff they do each practice, like keeping everybody together or picking players up with support if they're having a bad day. I couldn't ask for three better kids. They make my job easy." The Highlanders were led by junior center Jayna Cormier, who netted a game-high 19 points. Senior guard Lina Graham added 12 points.
