Senior Hector Ozuna beat the press and hit a fast-break layup with 47 seconds left to lift the fifth-seeded Bears (17-4) past the 12th-seeded Beavers (13-8) in the first round of the Division 3 tournament in Worcester, the first-ever match-up between the two schools. Ozuna finished with 19 points and 17 rebounds, while classmate Kwesi Ewusi added a game-high 23 points - the two guards scored all of Abby Kelley's points in the fourth quarter, with Ozuna leading the way with 7. Blackstone Valley junior guard Jake Ramos scored a team-high 21 points, while Eddie Floyd chipped in with 11 points for the Beavers. The game was tight throughout and featured multiple lead changes in the second half until Ewusi hit Ozuna in stride for the winning layup.
